Who We Are
The "Stone-Campbell Movement" began in frontier America in the early 1800s. The original "Disciples" came from Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, and other backgrounds with a desire to do away with divisive creeds and practices. Their "plea" was the unity of all Christians on the basis of no creeds but a confession of Jesus as "Son of the living God, and Lord and Savior", and no book but the Bible.
What We Believe
Faith in Christ as Lord and Savior is the only requirement for a place in our fellowship.
The Bible is our only guide, yet believers may hold different views on specific doctrines. Doubts and questions are respected--"Jesus loves you just as you are, and too much to leave you like that" (Max Lucado)
We believe in the ministry of all believers. You will see men, women, and youth serving in all phases of the church. Women and men serve as elders, deacons, and other leadership positions, and our tradition encourages women and men to serve as pastors.
We baptize by immersion (in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), but accept those from other churches who have been baptized by other methods (generally, we do not "rebaptize" because someone was "sprinkled" and/or baptized as an infant in another denomination). This is called "Open membership."
Communion (the Lord's Supper) is celebrated in worship every Sunday. The table belongs to Jesus, and he invites all who believe in him to eat and drink. You do not need to be a member of the church in order to participate.
We partner with other churches who serve Jesus in our community and around the world.
